Artist Statement
I am a professional mural artist with a practice grounded in meaningful community engagement, strong visual storytelling, and site-responsive
design. My work is known for its emotional impact, thoughtful use of symbolism, and bold, handcrafted style — painted entirely with
brushes, rollers, and tools that allow for expressive mark-making at scale.
Each project I undertake is developed in response to place — visually honouring local stories, landscapes, and cultural identities. My murals
often explore themes of resilience, belonging, and renewal, incorporating native flora, fauna, and landforms to reflect the character
of the region.
Collaboration is central to my process. I work closely with councils, community groups, and project stakeholders to ensure the final work is
not only visually striking but also inclusive, relevant, and embraced by the people who live with it every day.
My aim is to create large-scale public artworks that become lasting visual landmarks — accessible, uplifting, and deeply connected to
community. I bring a high level of professionalism to every project and am experienced in delivering complex public art within agreed time
frames and budgets.
Artist Bio
Ronan Holdsworth was born in Camden in 1971, raised in Sydney and gathering the love for art from early 80's graffiti and skateboard art.
Having been based in Wangaratta since 2018, Ronan has accomplished multiple murals, exhibitions and community engagement works, one of which Ronan donates two murals per year to Wangaratta to raise awareness to Epilepsy and Mental Health.
As a muralist, painter, and creative visionary, Ronan’s work captures the spirit of regional Australia through bold compositions and striking
visual storytelling. Using bold saturated colours and forgoing spray cans for rollers, brushes, brooms, sponges to create texture and movement within Ronan’s works.
Besides murals, Ronan works in mediums such as watercolour, gauche, digital art, digital painting, acrylics.
Ronan’s work spans corporate commissions, community-driven projects, and festival installations, celebrating cultural heritage, nature and the stories that bind us together. Beyond murals, Ronan is dedicated to fostering creative experiences within the community .
A firm believer that art should inspire dialogue and connection, Ronan continues to push the boundaries of contemporary muralism, leaving a
lasting impact on both the landscape and the communities they engage with.
