Thanks to the explosion of skateboarding in the 80’s and magazines like Thrasher that brought a whole new type of art to my eyes at an impressional age. As soon as I saw this art and all of its applications I was hooked. At the same time hiphop culture was being born and the “writers” scene emerged. Artists like TAKI183, SEEN, DONDI (just to name a few) were getting up everywhere in the states which lead to graffiti here in Australian and I was hooked straight away. this also lead me to explore other artists like Jean-Michel Baquiat, Jim PhillipsKeith Haring and Reg Mombassa just to mention a few.

Fast forward many years, my travel bug took me to the snow when snowboarding just hit Oz, the transition to the culture coming from a skate background was not that much different (great art, hard slams and awesome times). I think it was the solitude and serenity of the mountains that got me hooked ( it took me about ten years to get out of Thredbo). Traveling to different parts of the world to fuel my snow cravings I found a world wide community and related sub-cultures that make me feel right at home where ever my head lays, which in turn has had a positive influence on my life, my art and the applications that i use it. I gradually merged my art life with my snowboard and skate world, not to mention the tattoos that I have been asked to design due to the rise in popularity and my art style.

Now that I have settled in the beautiful location of Wangaratta country Victoria which is close to the mountains, awe inspiring landscapes and a few hours drive to the coast. My attention in my art process has turned to murals, digital art, watercolours, volunteering and teaching mindfulness art techniques.

On volunteering, I have had the chance to work with The Grit and Resilience Program  where not only am I on the consortium board  as one of 4 community members, I was also one of a team of four that was responsible for organising ( and facilitating some) approximately 22 free art workshops for the community.

I have an ongoing project where I (Ronan Holdsworth Gallery) donate a certain number of murals to business, laneways and organisations. As I and another member of my immediate family suffer from Epilepsy  all of the mural work that I donate also is created to bring awareness to Epilepsy and also mental heath, which are both very close to me.
