Epilepsy & mental health Awareness Mural Project

Behind the artist, behind the project.

Having a form of epilepsy that makes me have Grand Mal (tonic-clonic seizures) at any time (unless medicated) which I am and pleased to say I have been seizure free now for 10yrs ( but doesn't mean I can't have a seizure at any time). Knowing this is very stressful and for me stress is one of my triggers that can cause a seizure.

Having been in a high stress industry for 30 odd years, I made the decision to put that in the past and start a new story in my life as a full time artist. This was one of the biggest steps I have taken I. my life but has been one of the most beneficial to me, my epilepsy and mental health.

Wanting to be closer to mountains where I can snowboard and hike, to be in proximity to medical infrastructures and surroundings that would feed my creativity, art and photography, I made the decision to move to region Victoria where now I call home, Wangaratta.

I wanted to raise awareness to the ting that I hid most of my life that I shouldn't have, epilepsy.

The best way for me to do this was to go back in my life and remember where part of my "art life" started, graffiti. Now being older and not so agile I have taken to Street Art. This allows me to still express myself through public art as murals, legally,                                                                     So reaching out to paint companies Haymes Paint and Tint Paint, they both graciously donated paint to help me get this project for my new community, off the ground.

Now that the some paint has been donated for the time being, the art and painting of the murals obviously taken care of by me, it is time to start to donate 2 murals per year to 2 lucky buildings in our community.

Rural City of Wangaratta is the flagship community where I have started this project as this is my new home, but hopefully we can work together to have this spread to other towns and regions.

Art has been part of my life since an early age. The same with epilepsy and now I would like to share my art, tell my story and hopefully encourage others to tell theirs, break free of the stigma that we who suffer with epilepsy and mental health live under on a daily and be proud of who we are.

Thank you so much for taking the time in reading a bit about me.

This is an ever growing project and has already had a profound affect on some of the community. My broad goal is to achieve a  Street Art  Trail to bring awareness to epilepsy and mental health painted by a solo artist, ME.

About the murals that RHG donates.

-Each mural has a minimum starting pricing of $5000.00 which is ALL inclusive (the bigger the mural the more donated).

-The artwork is set to a medium level intricacy and a unlimited colour pallet.

-The artwork is collaborated with the owner or business that is attached to the wall so there is a level of ownership besides RHG.

-RHG try's to have the community involvement where ever possible.
