During each 60-minute session, participants embark on a journey of self-discovery, using various art mediums as a vehicle for mindfulness. Whether you're a seasoned artist or exploring your creative side for the first time, our inclusive and welcoming environment caters to all skill levels. The fusion of mindfulness techniques and artistic exploration creates a harmonious space that encourages self-reflection and relaxation.

Our skilled facilitators guide you through the process, weaving mindfulness exercises seamlessly into the art-making experience. From mindful breathing to focused observation, each session is designed to help you cultivate a deep sense of presence and connection with your creative instincts.

With this practice, you DO NOT need to be an artist of any kind to participate in the classes. This is ALL about the journey.

A bit about the facilitator.

Having found the positive effects of mindfulness art some 30yrs ago and still applying this into his art, life and healing to date, artist Ronan would like to share his techniques and ways for calming your mind by using art.

Ronan uses Mindfulness art techniques to have a positive effect on the rest of his day, productiveness, calming his busy mind or even kick start his procrastinating mind that just will not start.

Ronan has suffered with Epilepsy all of his adult life and most of his child life and found that anxiety and depression are just some of the mental health issues that have come with his Epilepsy. To help with this, not only a good diet and exercise where recommended but mindfulness art practises helped with the day to day struggle and was able to do this anywhere he found himself. This progressed into his art and sometime people may have seem him “just” drawing, but in reality he was calming his mind or dealing with a situation that he was not completely comfortable in.

🖌️ Let's Create Mindfully!

Each class to start with 

  • Attention to breath- 2 minutes just zoning out the world and paying attention to your breathing. You can regulate how you breathe if you to or just be aware of the natural rhythm that you make.

  • Square breathing - inhale for 3 seconds, hold breathe for 3 seconds , exhale for 3 seconds, hold breathe for 3 seconds. Repeat for 1-2 mins.

  • Drawing your breathing - 2 minutes of putting pen to paper and with an upward stroke draw a line as you breathe in, a curve as big as your pause, then a downward stroke for your breath out and repeat. Try not to force your breathing rather work in harmony with the nature of you breathing and the rhythm on the paper.

 

The workshop list -

Hatching -
After using your breathing technique to create your line patterns, fill these with hatch and cross hatching styles forming movement within your page.

Pointillism -

 After using your breathing technique to create your line patterns, fill these using the rhythmic tapping of pointillism creating movement, contrast and patterns.

Japanese water pattern -

 After using your breathing technique to create your line patterns. Then starting at the bottom of a selected area , drawing receptive semi circle patterns, for a 3D effect or just a beautiful rhythmic mindset.

Neuro-graphic -

 A mindfulness art form that at the end looks like the neuro connectors within you brain. Soothing, creative and imaginative way to create art.

Doodling -

Not only to clear your busy mind or activate your idle mind. Taking the creative mindfulness art practice and adding some of your fun doodling. 

Fill your mindfulness patterns with doodles, loosing the attention of time.

Circular flow

Using the Drawing your Breath technique, let your pen flow across your page in a circular motion letting the lines cross each other. Stopping when you fell the need. Then filling in the space with a combination of the Mindfulness fill in techniques.

Mindfulness circles and flowers

Taking the simplicity of the circle and then adding the nature of flowers is a perfect way to loose yourself within mindful art. The use of the three other class is a perfect match for this session and if you haven’t been to ay other sessions, just loose yourself in exploring rhythmic patters to fill your page and or flowers.

Throughout the course of 2 months we will get together once a week to have an engaging session all about your art with helpful tips, peer inspiration, medium choices, individual expression and more all whist you add to your person piece.
